While Carven was founded in 1945 by Marie-Louise Carven-Grog, who died in June 2015 at the age of 105. The latest chapter of this iconic label began in 2010, when designer Guillaume Henry gained creative control of the then struggling company. Guillaume reinvented the brand’s signature attention of precise tailoring and girlish silhouettes with innovative, of-the-moment details, focusing on beautiful coats. Henry converted the label into one of the most revered names in fashion during his 5-year tenure at its helm. Today, artistic directors Alexis Martial and Adrien Caillaudaud have picked up right where Henry left off, sending several equally covetable (and quintessentially French) designs—tailored Carven coats, unusual fabrications, edgy-feminine dresses—down the runway.
